Dota 2 Download Stopping
#3: Immediately pause the download via the Pause/Resume button at the top right corner. #4: Click the X button that is beside your Dota 2 'download'. #5: I've already disabled automatic updates (didn't stop Dota 2 from starting again when I left the thing in the queue while paused, but you might want to do that too.) And you're done.
In my downloads, there is a Dota 2 'update' except it is 0 bytes / 0 bytes and on the bottom of my screen it says 'DOWNLOADING 0 of 1 Items Complete.' It also says 'Dota 2 - Ready to play' in my library. I restarted Steam and the 'download' part went away but 'Ready to play' was still there. Then I was downloading an update for a different game and after the update finished the '0/0 bytes' update reappeared for Dota 2. Here is a picture to show you:. I know this isn't major but I don't know if it will affect my future Dota updates or stop them or something.EDIT: Forgot to say, I can play Dota 2 without any problems happening.
Dota 2 Download Stopping Problem
Copied from the other thread:#1: Reboot Steam (spam click on your hanged client, close it via task manager, whatever).#2: The moment you see the Steam Client page, click at the bottom, where it says 'DOWNLOADING'.#3: Immediately pause the download via the Pause/Resume button at the top right corner.#4: Click the X button that is beside your Dota 2 'download'.#5: I've already disabled automatic updates (didn't stop Dota 2 from starting again when I left the thing in the queue while paused, but you might want to do that too.)And you're done. It doesn't come back until you restart your Steam Client (of which you just need to redo it again, it is quick and you don't have to uninstall Dota 2 though.). Pausing the download and crossing it off the download list did not work for me. I stopped it by downloading the Steam client beta and updating Dota 2 while in the Steam client beta. To do this, you need to opt in to by going to SteamSettingsAccount, pressing the change button under Beta Participation, then selecting 'Steam Beta Update.' Then I switched back to the regular Steam version (because the Beta was so laggy it was unusable for me) and it stopped downloading the 0/0 Mb update.Very annoying, but at least it will auto update the rest of my games now. I am also not sure this will work for anyone else, but it seemed to work for me.
Really hoping for a specific fix to this soon. It's such a hassle because it freezes most of steam until you can reach the download to pause it.edit1: it seems to apply specifically to the Beta Version of Steam. The Regular version does not seem to be able to download the file.
- . Removing the Dota 2 files from the downloading folder. Refreshing your clientregistry.blob and your winui.gcf in your steam folder. Changing the region to force download from a different server. Clearing out the Dota 2 files from your depotcache folder. Every time the download starts back up it gets stuck at the same point every.
- To pause in Dota 2, press F9. F9 is the default hotkey for pausing in Dota 2. For people recording Dota 2 games with FRAPS, you may either change the hotkeys for recording FRAPS videos or change the PAUSE hotkey found inside Dota2.
When i returned to beta, it started downloading a 5.5 GB file.edit2: the 0/0 update seems to be a side effect of this update. As soon as the 5.5 GB finishes, the 0/0 starts up. I guess it's not figuring out that the update is finished, and is trying to pull somewhere that doesn't exist?.
