Chiappa .22 1911 Stovepipe Fix

I bought the Chiappa 1911-22 from J&G Sales on 2/10/10 and my FFL got it in on (1 week ago) I have been trying to do the equivalent of working in the trigger by carefully decocking (following the hammer down slowly) then pressing the trigger 50-100 times (whenever I get. I had a chiappa 1911/22. It was a good shooter, fed/cycled fine and was pretty accurate right out of the box. I paid 225 for it brand new. I really liked it, but I could tell it was going to be a 1000 round pistol, meaning after 1k rounds it would be worn, wobbly, and generally clapped out. Chiappa and MKS supply have great customer service, so I'm sure any issues would be taken care of, but I just didn't want to worry about it, so it got traded off. In no way is that meant to demean the chiappa, it was really an excellent performer for a 200 dollar pistol, but I will put 700 rnds through a.22 in one range trip on occasion.
I could be wrong about this, so take it with a grain of salt.Overall, if you expect to put less than 1500 rounds through one while you own it, its a steal. An update: Several range trips since this first post and not a single malfunction with any ammo. Around 700-800 more roundsI recently got one of the Uramex/Colt/Walther 1911.22lrs. I got the government model for $389 OTD.
Seems well made. Fit and finish is good. I bought it for a fun range plinker.

(at least that is what it says on the gun).I took it out for the first time yesterday (along with a new Ruger Mark III i got my son for Christmas) and I must say I am impressed. Accuracy is good. It shoots slightly low (not much), but not too bad for a fun plinker50 rounds CCI bulk-no issues50 rounds Remington Subsonic - no issues50 rounds Federal bulk (walmart value pack) no issues100 rounds of Winchester Superx - no issues200+ rounds Federal Lightening- 7 failures to feed, 1 stovepipe.
(note I also shot a new Ruger Mark III and had issues with the Federal Lightening with it also)Overall I am happy with the purchase. It is not a Colt Ace but it is cheaper than the Ruger Mark III that I recently bought and it was just as reliable and was close in accuracy to it.I have to believe the issues with the Federal Lightening is ammo related. I have had trouble with it in every 22 auto I have shot it out of. Click to expand.Ah, yea the idiot hole. What 1911s NEED is a screw to fix the pretravel (trigger slop, where you touch the trigger and it moves but does not fire).

What you get is the idiot hole, which fixes posttravel (movement after the gun has fired). Worse, if you monkey with the postravel screw in most 1911s (not sure about this.22 clone) you can mess it up so that it does not work quite right and even mess it up so that the gun can do odd things and even damage the sear to hammer fit (moreso if the gun is highly tuned). The post travel fix can be nice, but without pretravel adjustment, it is just a dumb adjustment that causes as much trouble as it solves and, as noted, makes the trigger less comfortable to boot.Old thread, anyone have a real gem in their 1911 22s? I have thought about it, but so far none has jumped out as an amazing purchase.
