Distant Worlds Universe Ship Design

/ Comments off

When you get hyperdrives, that's when ship design tends to branch out to one's preference and current tech. When it comes to exploration ships, cruise thrust is still an important factor, but fuel becomes equally important to max out, so your exploration ships can explore star systems much further away from your home system. Distant Worlds: Universe - released (+ Steam availability) It is today that Distant Worlds: Universe will hit the Matrix, Slitherine and Steam Stores. Distant Worlds: Universe is the latest in the popular Distant Worlds Series. The game will be available on our stores around 12.00 GMT and the Steam release will be around 4.00PM PDT. Military Ships Edit. Military Ships are generally state ships with weapons. Their job is to patrol, defend and attack. Likely one of the first military ships you will build, these ships are best used to patrol smaller colonies, mining stations and other small bases.

OK, bought this (for the second time actually, but nevermind), and am beginning to get my head round it again. What I am struggling with though is getting my ships to retrofit. My designs are manual. All military ships are automated - they don't seem to retrofit on their own initiative.Even when I order them, manually, individually, to retrofit, it's very hit and miss as to whether or not they actually do.I don't have any resource shortagesAt least I have the required resources 'globally', could the problem be that the required resources need to be at the closest shipyard? It doesn't feel right because some of the ships / classes are months out of date.Help please. It's been a few months since the last time I played this.Such fond memories, especially on how I used the in game editor to cheat a little.Anyway, in order to retrofit you need to have two things:A valid design and a shipyard that has all the materials. The valid design is simple, depending on your construction tech level you will need to limit the maximum size of your ships to the maximum size that you can actually build.A shipyard with all the materials is a little more complicated.

Early on, the only shipyard that will have everything in the necessary quantities will be your home planet's.In mid game you should have invested in a handful of mid spaceports in key planets and maybe one more large if you found a particularly rich planet. These are the spaceports that have the necessary capacity (both cargo and docking) in order to handle the necessary resources.Pro Tip: Remember to manually retrofit the bases and the civilian ships when you research a new type of equipment. The auto retrofit button only upgrades existing equipment, it doesn't install new equipment. Damn, forgot the little detail that they go either to the closest or the home spaceport.Had to go into the game to see that. The trick I found for proper retrofitting, repair and refueling is to split the fleet into three categories depending on their home base:Small defense fleets for small spaceports.

Maximum of six ships (also buffed up the spaceport to have 6 docking bays): 2 destroyers + 4 frigates. These ones are system defense fleets, automated for defending their home system.Medium defense fleets for medium spaceports. Maximum of 16 ships: 8 frigates, 4 destroyers, 2 cruisers and two light carriers (medium spaceports buffed to 16 docking bays). These one are sector defense fleets, automated for defending a cluster of systems.Generally speaking these ones are more than adequate to deal with the odd pirate and space creature as well as bullying foolish neighbors who think that placing a mine within my territory is a good idea.Large battlefleets for large spaceports.

Huge 40+ fleets with a mix of ships with their homebase being strategically placed Large Space Ports (large spaceports buffed to 30 docking bays). I control these ones and their motto is: If it is in range and hostile, kill it, its parents, its children and its family pet.Had a Shakturi invasion once, the poor bugs didn't seem to understand the fact that not only I build big but that I also build a lot.Happy times. I purchased off the Matrix Site, and was able to get the downloadable Version, and a Steam Key. I decided to go with Steam because of the Achievements, the Active Forum, and the Auto Updates. I do have my Download Version tucked away in a safe place.Having never set eyes on this game, when I started, the complexity and depth was initially overwhelming.

I kept at the lets play videos and the in-game tutorials, and I started to feel more at ease with the game. What I love about this game, is that it can be complex, if you allow it to be that way. StarsInTheirEyes wrote:I'm enjoying it but determined to play pre-warp and damn. The pirates are ruthless and theres very little you can do about it.L.O.L.I heard how ruthless they were. I set my pirates to distant, and set them on weak.

So far, I only had to deal with one pirate faction. My advisors were telling me to cut my protection agreement with them, because of our sizable force. The only problem with that, every time, I would dismiss the protection agreement, they would do these hit and run tactics, picking off, good ships, before my forces could respond. So, I'm in this cat and mouse game, with them, all across the galaxy.I decided to go ahead and pay their protection fee.I'm buying a little time, while I'm training some special forces, and I'm going to have a nice little surprise for their only space port. Possible heads up - all my saved games were deleted, by the game, last night. The reason I am convinced this is the case is because all of my settings (sound, game setup, automation settings etc) also reverted to default too and I did not.

Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface. In some cases the shrink-wrap may betorn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as 'Sealed'. Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt. Near Mint - (minus). Hi c swing'n rar pc.
